The following articles of the UTU Constitution were amended:  2,7, 10, 12, 19, 25, 32, 33, 37, 42, 73, 85, 90, 92, 93, and 94.

Report from UTU 1328 Delegate Joel Kintner who attended the convention:

The overall theme of the convention was change.  If you review the list of elected officers many are new to their offices (including the top 3 positions of our union).  I had a chance to speak with President-Elect Mike Futhey, Assistant President-Elect Arthur Martin, President Paul Thompson, Past President Al Chesser, U.S. National Director James Brunkenhoefer, and numerous Vice Presidents, General Chairmen, and State Directors.  I tried to speak for the membership in saying that NS Conductors need a fair agreement immediately.  We discussed entry rates of pay, limbo time, meal allowances, shift differential, vacation pay, vacation qualifying days, health care costs, hourly rates, START Policy, discipline, work/rest, and many other topics.  President - Elect Futhey assured me that as soon as he takes office, he will do everything in his power to enter into a fair national agreement as quickly as he can.  He also encouraged me to tell members to donate to the UTU-PAC fund (information on legislative page of this site) because he intends to put pressure on the carriers through the legislative branch of our union.

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton addressed the convention via a letter.  She is happy that our union is endorsing her as a U.S. Presidential Candidate.  She wrote that she would help railroad workers retain FELA and Railroad Retirement, be fair if an arbitrator was needed is settling disputes between Carriers and the Organization, minimize limbo time, and keep health care affordable.

I will bring a copy of the minutes from the convention and a list of Constitution changes to the September UTU 1328 meeting.
